Angelica Panganiban, a Filipino American actress and model who is also a TV hostess as well as a comedian. Angelica Hale, then 4 years old, became seriously ill in 2012 due to an infection caused by strep bacteria. Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Egleston placed Angelica Hale on ECMO support for lifesaving treatment. She went septic and experienced multiple organ failure, including the kidneys that did not heal. It was her new normal to have not peritoneal but the hemodialysis. She finally returned home after an eighteen-day stay in the hospital after a time when she was in danger of dying to her long journey back to health. Life was forever changed. Angelica endured dialysis treatments for more than a decade and half of that time before she was able to undergo the kidney transplant. Angelica's mother was the only one with the ability to give the kidney. Angelica Hale and her mother underwent an organ transplantation procedure on the premises of Emory University Hospital in Atlanta as well as Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Egleston on September 13th 2013.
